In the chronicles of my life, the chapter titled "Film Journey" commenced approximately four years ago when I, Akanksha Kadam, embarked on my cinematic odyssey as a student at Toronto Film School. Filled with excitement, I bid farewell to a life of privilege and set forth in search of new horizons. Canada, with its myriad lessons, became an unexpected but cherished mentor, guiding me through the ebbs and flows of life. However, shortly after diving into my studies, the onset of COVID-19 prompted a swift transition to online learning, just three months into the program. Despite this unexpected turn of events, my determination to delve into the realm of film, particularly in the art department, remained unwavering. Amidst the bustling life of a student, the importance of financial stability loomed large. I found myself navigating through various jobs, from corporate roles to managing difficult customers. Yet, with each experience, I gleaned valuable insights into perseverance and resilience. Then, a moment of clarity dawned upon me – I refused to compromise my integrity for the sake of a paycheck. With resolve, I bid adieu to uninspiring jobs and diligently saved for a brighter future. I completed my full time Film Production Designer journey on April 1st 2024 a surge of emotions fills my being. Through volunteer work and chance encounters, I've discovered immense joy on set, where creativity knows no bounds. Though challenges were aplenty, each one served as a stepping stone, shaping me into the person I am today. To all fellow dreamers, remember, every twist and turn in your journey is a testament to your strength and resilience. Through my blogs, I would try to breakdown films through production design and give my insights on the film.
